ISCR hosted 3rd annual conference in Bengaluru

The third annual conference of Indian Society for Clinical Research (ISCR) in Bengaluru, themed 'Science, Business and Society also saw the launch of its first journal for the clinical research industry titled 'Perspectives in Clinical Research' comprising insights of the best minds in the space with new views on the clinical research landscape. The journal is available in print and online at www.iscr.org/journal.

In the clinical research seminar track, regulatory issues were addressed by Dr Suresh Menon, Novartis India, Dr Bobby George, Reliance Life Sciences India, Dr Radhika Bobba, Anhvita Biopharm Consulting, Sumati Randeo, Abott Vascular India with the legal angle by Thiruvengadam, Thiru and Thiru India. The conference also featured ethical challenges with vulnerable populations from stakeholders like Dr Radhika Bobba, Dr Manish Shah, Pfizer India, Dr Nagasubbramaniam, Manipal Health and Dr Mohandas, Tata Memorial Center, moderated by Dr Urmila Thate, KEM Hospital. The track concluded with research methodology discussions on end points in oncology trials, design of Phase I studies and NIS studies by Dr Anurita Majumdar, Eli Lilly India, Dr Viraj Suvarna and Dr Rajyadhaksha, Pfizer India, Dr Usharani, Nizam's Institute of Medical Science and Dr Mohandas.

The CDM, medical writing and biostatistics tracks had discussions by Dr Suresh Bowalekar, Pharmanet clinical services, Dr Steve Wilson, FDA USA, Anilkumar , Novartis, Kalyan Gopalkrishnan and Ilango Ramanujam, TAKE Solutions. Other challenging areas of CDM were covered by Dr Laxminarayan, Merck Research Laboratories, Dr Bhattacharya, GlaxoSmithkline Pharma, Dr Mary Johnson, Pharmanet Development Group, Dr Ram Tiwari, FDA and Dr Tandon, Genzyme Corporate Inc. The day concluded with a track on quality and data integration by Dr Tandon, Dr Nema of TCS, Dr Handleman, SAS Institute Inc, Dr Sunil Singh and Dr Salil Varma, DBMS Consulting Inc.
