MakroCare—New services in every quarter

MakroCare, a subsidiary of the Makro group of companies is a clinical research organisation (CRO) providing functional services to pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries since its inception in 1996 in the US. MakroCare is a privately held company with three offices in the US, India and Germany. This leading CRO has always featured prominently in the wishlist of pharma companies. The success of MakroCare can be attributed to Mahesh Malneedi, President and co-founder of MakroCare, who worked with various Wall Street firms like JP Morgan, Solomon Smith Barney and Citibank prior to starting MakroCare. MakroCare ensures adherence to Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and made it a primary goal for all multinational clinical trials. Apart from this MakroCare has customised and adapted good project management principles from PMI and ITIL standards. MakroCare's broad geographical reach, scalability and immense talent pool enable it to reliably meet the needs of enterprise level clients, completing clinical research projects well within tight deadlines. MakroCare always strives for controlled and consistent growth and they will continue in the same manner.

Flexible and profitable

MakroCare offers a functional outsourcing approach for clinical research under which they contract with and deliver a particular service to meet client's needs in support of their clinical trials. It is famously known as 'One stop shop'. Onsite/Offsite services are yet another interesting concept that reflects ability to deploy highly skilled cardinal health professionals at the client's facility and the clinical challenges that client face. MakroCare innovatively placed concepts include Full Time Equivalent (FTE) as well. Besides this the offshore delivery model is flexibly design to reduce cost, maintain high quality standards, the integration of world-class project management, methods and tools. MakroCare dedicate its success to accuracy with which they operate while applying most appropriate and latest technologies leading to accurate and speedy submission of NDAs and INDs. The company’s project manager ensures timeliness and excellence of the work performed. The services that company provide includes data management services, biostatistics, drug safety services, QA and compliance and medical writing. MakroCare has vast therapeutic area of experience like cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, gynecology, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, psychiatry and pulmonary medicine.

MakroCare's more than a decade long journey has many rewarding halts. Malneedi provides more details, saying, "Ours is an ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certified company that has multiple life sciences customers including top five of the top 10 revenue earning pharma/biotech companies. The company also has many awards in its kitty. It was recognised as a top 500 growth company in North America by Deloitte for 2005, 2006 and 2007. The list is long as we have also been awarded FAST 50 growth company in New Jersey by Deloitte for 2005, 2006 and 2007 and recognised as a INC 5000 company for 2007."

Understanding the future

MakroCare has an aggressive roadmap charted out for the next six quarters when it comes to expansion. it will be adding new service lines as well as strategic locations (both in India and outside India) each quarter. Malneedi says, "From an acquisition point of view, MakroCare is currently certainly looking for small to mid-level CROs in Europe. It believes that the next decade of major innovation will come from biotech firms rather than pharma companies. A majority of biotech firms are small in nature and they need service partners who can provide full service to them. MakroCare formed a special team to work with biotech firms on clinical development planning, as their needs are different from bigger firms."
