ReaMetrix releases Accuford reagent kit
Our News Bureau - Bangalore
ReaMetrix
and Millipore India released the Accuford Tri-TStat reagent kit. Through an
exclusive distribution partnership in the Indian market, ReaMetrix and Millipore
India will bring a new generation of affordable diagnostics to the public. RMX
has developed this product entirely in India to benefit Indian market. The Tri-TSat
reagent kit is the first product in the Accuford brand of affordable diagnostics,
which will be developed and manufactured in India by ReaMetrix and distributed
by Millipore-India. The Tri-TSat reagent kit enables a critical test for management
of AIDS patients to be available at a very reasonable cost. The affordability
of Tri-TSat over imported reagents allows physicians to measure the ravaging
effects of HIV on patients of immune system and effectiveness of drug therapy.
"We are impressed with the quality and availability of these reagents at
this price point that has allowed us to significantly reduce cost of these tests
from Rs 2000 to as less as Rs 500. The local availability of these reagents
will also assure freshness increasing the reliability of the tests," says
Dr Sujay Prasad, Pathologist of Anand Diagnostic Laboratory.
The Accuford brand aims to leverage strengths of Millipore
India and ReaMetrix to create and distribute diagnostic products that will address
significant public health problems in India. There will be a release of a series
of products in the next two years which will drive significant employment and
marketing opportunities. Bala S Manian, Director of ReaMetrix, says, "We
are focusing on value arbitrage rather than cost arbitrage. ReaMetrix is committed
to leverage the strengths of Indian scientists to deliver enormous value in
the fields of clinical diagnostics and life science research. We are making
business with minimal profit capitalising on the local resources. We import
science and implement it here."
Sudir Kant, President of Millipore, said, "At present we are focussing
on the metropolis and then are planning to eventually make it available for
all. With extended shelf life and barring refrigeration of the product it comes
handy to all." Commenting on the products in pipeline, Balan said, "We
are developing a system called a multiplex test which enables easy diagnosis
of various diseases commonly found in India."
